This Privacy Policy explains what personal information this website collects from visitors, how we use it, and how we protect it. Your privacy matters to us, and we aim to be transparent and compliant with applicable laws (including GDPR where relevant).
### 1. Who we are This is a personal/self-hosted WordPress blog operated by Christian-Romance.com. The site runs on open-source WordPress software hosted at Ionos.com.
We do **not** run a commercial service, sell data, or show ads unless explicitly stated elsewhere.
### 2. Information we collect
#### a) Server access logs (automatic) Like almost every website, our web server automatically records standard access information for each visit. This typically includes:
– Your IP address – Date and time of the request – Requested page/URL – HTTP status code – Bytes sent – Browser type & version (user-agent string) – Referring page (if any)
**Purpose**: Security (detect attacks, debug issues), server performance, and basic troubleshooting. **Retention**: These logs are kept for a short period only (usually 7–30 days, depending on our hosting provider) and are then automatically deleted or overwritten. They are **not** used for profiling, marketing, or identifying individuals.
#### b) Comments If you leave a comment on a post:
– Name (as entered by you) – Email address (as entered by you) – Website URL (optional, as entered by you) – Comment content – Your IP address (automatically recorded by WordPress)
**Purpose**: To publish and display your comment, reduce spam, and (in rare cases) contact you about your comment. **IP address**: Stored with the comment to help fight spam and comply with anti-abuse rules. **Retention**: Comments and associated data (including IP) are kept indefinitely unless you request deletion, the comment is removed as spam, or we clean up old content.
We use **Akismet** (a service by Automattic) to check comments for spam. When you submit a comment, your name, email, URL, IP address, user-agent, and comment content are sent to Akismet for analysis. See Automattic’s privacy notice: https://automattic.com/privacy-notice/
#### c) Jetpack (if enabled) If we have connected Jetpack (by Automattic), it may collect additional data such as:
– Page view statistics (anonymized visitor counts, not personal browsing history) – Comment & like activity (if features are active)
Jetpack sends some data to Automattic servers. For full details see: https://jetpack.com/support/privacy/ or https://jetpack.com/support/for-your-privacy-policy/
If Jetpack is **not** connected, this section does not apply.
#### d) Cookies WordPress itself sets only minimal session cookies (for logged-in users/admins only). We do **not** use:
– Google Analytics – Tracking pixels – Advertising cookies – Third-party fonts/CDNs that track users
Comment-related cookies may be set temporarily (e.g., to remember your name/email for convenience). You can control cookies via your browser settings.
### 3. Third parties – **Hosting provider**: Sees server logs (including IPs) as part of normal operation. – **Akismet / Automattic**: Receives comment data for spam checking (see link above). – **Jetpack / Automattic** (if enabled): Receives limited site usage data (see link above).
We do **not** share your data with marketers, advertisers, or data brokers.
### 4. Your rights Depending on your location (especially GDPR/CCPA regions), you may have rights to:
– Access your data (e.g., comments you left) – Request deletion (we’ll remove your comments if technically possible) – Object to processing
Contact us at via our contact page to exercise these rights. We’ll respond within legal timeframes.
### 5. Security We take reasonable steps to protect the site (updates, security plugins, strong passwords, etc.). However, no website is 100% secure.
### 6. Changes to this policy We may update this page if we add new features/plugins that collect data. Check the “Last updated” date.
